Which is the best legal expenses insurance?

Hi

I've had a nightmare with Barclays legal cover expenses insurance, where I thought I had £50k cover they are refusing to cover me on grounds of proportionality so it means its rubbish insurance and I would avoid them at all costs.

Can anyone recommend a decent company for legal expenses cover, I can't find it on the site?

Thanks

  • Can you share details of the kind of thing you wanted cover for - all legal expenses insurers will consider proportionality? But, not all may have the exact same view of it on any given case.

This may help - see section on "cost of proceedings compared to the possible recovery"

I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.
  • Legal expenses policies are designed so that the underwriters avoid paying any legal fees.

Either you end up pushed onto a factory firm where the legal expenses provider makes a kickback if there is injury involved. Or if it is a case where costs are unlikely to be recoverable you will be passed to an in-house legal team, which usually comprises call centre staff following flow diagrams.
  • Sorry for the delay, it was for the property matter.
