Didn't realise I had finished contract. EE

I was wondering if it's possible to claim back money I have overpaid on a contract from EE?

My 24 month contract finished months ago, so I have been overpaying by about £30 a month by still paying what I did when I started the contract. I was expecting a reduction in price when the contract was complete as surely after the 24 months I have completed payment for the phone but just needed to pay for the line rental? So naughty of EE to keep taking people's money for something they already own. :(

How can your contract have ended if you didn't or EE cancel it ?
Your minimum term agreement has now passed, it is up to you to manage what you do with the account beyond that not EE or any other company.

No chance of getting the money back. You haven't overpaid as the contract doesn't end, you just move out of the minimum term (in this case 2 years). You agreed to pay £x a month until such time you cancelled the contract. As you haven't cancelled it, the contract rightly carries on.

Look on the bright side, at least you won't make the same mistake again!
  • Thanks for clearing that up for me Mije1983 :). No I won't be making the same mistake again. I plan on buying my phone outright so I don't end up overpaying. I do know that some companies automatically drop the price when you have finished paying for the phone. Obviously not EE :/

I know o2 have a reduction package - think IRS called refresh... pay the phone ova 2 yrs then the calls only.

Now your out of contract, if u want to stay with EE ring and see what offers they have x

Why would EE just terminate the contract after the minimum term?

No other networks reduce the monthly line rental once it's up as you've claimed?
As pointed out with o2 refresh it is does reduce but that's because you make 2 payments in 1...... one for the phone and another for line rental.

You weren't directly" paying for a phone with EE", you got a FREE phone and in return agreed to pay £x for mins texts and data.

If you signed a 12 month contract with British Gas would you expect them to turn your electricity off at the end of it?

I'm afraid you've been very naive here - it's up to you to negotiate or cancel. Hopefully it's a lesson learned!
