Channel crossing cheapest days/times?

Evening All
Had a very quick mooch about looking for info on Chunnel/Ferry crossings, can't seem to find anything specific.
I am doing my very best to get to the Pyrenees and back for a minuscule amount of money. Last time I crossed the channel on a ferry it cost around £40 for a return on a Speedferries fast boat from Folkstone. I can't seem to find anything anywhere near that now, are those days long gone?
Looking to cross around 27th July, returning around a week later. I have a standard car with bikes on the roof.
Any bright ideas anyone?
Thanks

Well , the cheapest I have found is £94 with DFDS travelling Dover to Dunkirk return.
That's without putting in high vehicle which I suspect will be the case with bikes on the top?
The times I selected are the anti- social ones of outward July 25 at 0200
return Aug 1st 2200
P&O DFDS Dover Calais quoted as £100- £102
Le Shuttle £151.80- these for similar timings.
This was all on http://www.aferry.co.uk
Don't know if that is any help
You are talking absolutely high season!
For ferries to Ireland Tues/ Weds and around middle of the night come out the cheapest so I used the logic (which could be flawed!!) here.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Thanks.
I haven't looked at such extreme times but will do now and see where I end up.
If anyone else is aware of schemes, vouchers or loopholes to reduce this cost I'm all ears!0 -

take the bikes off the roof before you get to the port, remove the wheels and put them in the car. All depends on what car and how many passengers mind you,0 -
£75!! Result!! :j0

Unfortunately not an option. Camping gear and mountain biking kit in the back of the car but thanks anyway though.0 -

Glad you are sorted. Unsocioble hours ones are cheaper, I know when I go to Ireland (done Dover to Calais many a time btw) you pay a supplement for "peak" crossings too.The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0
