Agree with the above, I'd be much more encouraged by someone with a more 'usual' physique than some fitness freak with rippling abs under the lycra. Give it a go :)

I have a friend who's not small. She walks her dog twice a day for 2x45 minutes. She said all it's done so far is make her bum firmer. She walks more at the weekend.
I'm not small, I walk for about 37 hours a week.So fat people can walk a lot. Are you able to walk as much as the job asks for? If yes, apply for it.

It could go either way. They might be looking for someone they believe the target audience can identify with, so if you were to sell yourself as someone who has decided to be healthier through walking (and other activities) and you demonstrate empathy and motivation skills, then you might be exactly the right person.

If however they are looking for someone they believe would be an inspiration by having lost weight or manages to keep it down through regular walking, and motivation skills, then you might not feel the bill.

My local gym employ both slim and overweight personal trainers because they can see how both can be great motivators.

Thanks everyone, I now see there could be two ways of looking at this. I do actually enjoy walking ( when I have the time) and walk to and from school every day no matter what the weather. I have also started c25k.

I'm going to apply and see what happens. Thanks everyone.

Well as a 'big' girl I've walked from London to Brighton whist also taking part in several moonwalks.

    There's "big" and there's "fat".
    Come on, which is it?

If it's just "big", (and by this I mean sturdy, and just not a size 8 or 10, your achievements have no bearing on the reality of what a fat badly overweight person may be able to physically do.
