........How would we get a certified copy of a Mauritian marriage certificate? Do we have to take our original somewhere to get it authenticated or something?
Already answered in post 3.
Or you could use google and read

If you go through the embassy it's way more expensive. So far I've updated my bank and passport. Problem is they all need to see the original so things can only be updated 1 at a time. It's a pain because even recorded delivery I worry it's going to get lost in the post! So far so good though. I've had no problems.
thats what I did too, at the time our Central library service provided a translation service so I used that. Strictly speaking though, you may not even need a translation, just a certified copy of your Mauritian marriage certificate, if it is an International document (for example, my Turkish marriage certificate is an International document in that it is written primarily in Turkish, but each section is also written in French and English).
Notary services all over the country can provide you with certified copy services.0 -
Just following up on this....
Our solicitor has done some certified copies of our marriage cert. I also realised that we actually have an attestation letter from when we got married - doh! Neither of us realised we had it! So it looks like that's all we need.
So does she now just write to each organisation? Is there any specific text she needs to put? I don't suppose anyone has a link to a good template do they? I can't find a decent one.

Just write saying please change name to mrs x, following marriage and ask for return of cert.0

Thanks!
Sorry.... one last question.... she'll need to notify HMRC about the name change and also her employer, but would she be fine to continue using her maiden name for work (even if her employer changes it on her HR stuff?)
Or can she no longer use her maiden name for everything?0 -
entirely up to her, if she is known/qualified professionally as maiden name, might be easier. Let HMRC know so they can reconcile and inform hr if for example pension correspondence is to be in married name but email address to,stay maiden0
