Will He Come Back

Shed is too full up with junk and there are too many hidey holes so he would not be easy to extract. Food gone this morning and the water level had gone down even though it has been raining. My husband thinks he is hiding underneath the shed. There is room under there. Behind the shed there are a lot of brambles but he doesn't think he is in there.
I will phone the Fox rescue on Monday to see if there is any progress with the cage trap. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Under the shed is a perfect place for him. Hope he gets rescued. Thanks"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

I know people will not like this but here goes...You are willing to let this animal suffer for a week or more. Far kinder to have someone come out and shoot it.0

Perhaps the OP should call the foxes trust and the RSPCA at the same time and let them sort it out between them.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I thought only the police had guns. I have been warned not to go too near the fox, not to corner it and I am following the action the fox rescue suggested. I wanted the cage immediately but they said there is a wait. I don't see what else I can realistically do. I don't have the money to call out a vet.
However, in answer to your question melly, no. My husband has just gone down to the shed and the food is still there. He carried out a more thorough search and managed to get around to the back of the shed. He shone a torch underneath the whole of the shed and he is not there. He is not in among the brambles either, so he thinks the fox came back and ate the food yesterday but he is finding a way out of the garden somehow. He said it smelt a bit foxy.
He hasn't been back today, so he didn't put down any more food. He said if the fox was close by it would smell the food and eat it. We will keep an eye out but he thinks if he is not resident in the garden there is little point. Maybe it is a female and has cubs somewhere. My husband thinks he/she is gone. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
If you see the poorly fox again you could try contacting the National Fox Welfare Society on

If you look at their Facebook page it seems like they are really good at getting someone out with a trap so that they can get the fox to a vet who will treat them. Sorry I can't post a link.0 -

Thank you. I will certainly try that number if I see him again or if the food gets eaten. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

Going by my area, any aRRzehole who likes killing animals can set themselves up with an air rifle and a website and get paid to shoot wild animals under the guise of pest control. One reckons he's even engaged by the council to do it when foxes take up residence in the grounds of properties waiting to be reallocated to new tenants. He didn't appreciate my questions about the law regarding discharging air weapons within a certain distance of the public carriageway, so I didn't press the matter any further, though.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

That is quite shocking.
No sign of the fox but something has done its business right outside our patio doors. It doesn't look like cat's droppings but I can't be sure. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
