Charity consortium creating a Community Interest Company (CIC)

My charity has joined a consortium of other charities and they are considering creating a Community Interest Company (CIC). Is it allowed for all of the charities to remain independent charities in their own right, but to also be part of a CIC? Are there any pitfalls to being in a CIC?

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Legal advice needed, IMO. Google your local voluntary services council and see if they can get you any pro bono, or have anyone themselves who can advise you. Or try Independent Examiners or AFVS.

Bottom line may be, what does your governing document say? You may need to get that changed.

Sue is right as ever, this is far too important to take opinions from internet strangers
