  • Found £20 in an old purse. What a nice surprise! :j

Usually I'd just add any money found to my weekly budget and spend it but made the decision to take the note and all my loose change to the bank instead. That's £33 added to the current account.

Spending a bit of money today - £10 on a fitness photo shoot that I booked months ago and 70p on a cup of coffee. Hopefully won't spend any more today; I'm having a meal with friends tonight but someone else is cooking. They are also going to the cinema after the meal but will try and excuse myself - feeling really tired already and it's only lunchtime.
  • Just requested £15.38 payment from my quidco account to my bank account. It's literally free money as it was made on purchases I was going to make anyway.

Yes it was nice - completely threw me by surprise!

Spent £14 today. £10 on a fitness photo shoot I'd arranged a few months back, £3 on my share of food at a group get together and £1 on coffee in college (The £1 annoyed me the most!!) One day I'll actually REMEMBER to take my travel mug into college with me.

Met up unexpectedly with a friend though who treated me to afternoon tea which was LOVELY though :)

Also attended all my lectures and classes so was feeling very studious. I have final exams in May and really need to further up the time spent in the library revising. Hopefully being in the library will stop me spending, although a continued access to coffee is a must!
  • Had to pay agency fees for my rental property today so my bank balance took a mighty £110 hit. :(

On the plus side the cashback of around £21 from my shopping app has arrived into my account, today should be a NSD (other than those bills) and I'm about to eat some pancakes for breakfast!! :T

According to my spreadsheets, if I continue to pay rent until June, live at my parent's home rent free from July-September, and buy nothing except for food at a £35 a week budget then I will be £112 in debt by September.

Of course, it's likely I *will* make purchases other than food at some point over the next few months so the figure is most likely going to be much higher than the £112.

So I really need to watch the pennies wherever I can. Hopefully I'll be able to minimise the damage!
  • Ended up going for a lovely 2 hour walk. Felt obliged to make the most of the sunshine!! Had a NSD (apart from the agency fees) and ate some yummy leftovers for lunch and dinner.
  • Just found out a close friend is expecting so am going to treat her to brunch today. Fingers crossed today will be a NSD but I'm not 100% convinced it will be - I might well treat my friend to a small gift or something to celebrate.

I have a (free) personal training session this afternoon and then will have a quiet evening in. I've been meaning to list a few items on 3bay/f@cebook for a few days but have not gotten round to it. Today will be the day!!

I'm also beginning to look at properties in the area I'll be moving to for my graduate job. They are quite cheap and, by the looks of things, I'd be able to get a mortgage when on my grad salary so I'd quite like to get my own little place as soon as possible. Exciting times ahead!! :D
  • Today did end up being quite a spend-heavy day.

I treated myself and my friend to brunch which ended up costing £6. I also bought her a belated Christmas gift/ congratulations present from LUSH that came to £14.20. (£10 was paid for by a gift card that I got for Christmas myself.) I also ended up spending £2.50 on sorbet and £4.10 on groceries.

This brought my total food spend up to £19.19/35

Since tomorrow is the start of a new week I'll be depositing my remaining grocery funds into an envelop and withdrawing a new £35. If there is still excess money each week after a further 2 weeks on this budget then I'll return it to my account and lower my food budget to £30 a week.
  • Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Think I might need to do something similar with my food spends and look at bulk buying / markets, unfortunately butcher is usually closed when I go past on way home from work and dislike supermarket meat (weird hang up I know!)
Cashback is a lovely reward on stuff that you were spending money on anyway it's nice to get some money back.

Where do you do your food shop? I think you could shave a little off it a week with some careful planning :)
    I agree
My budget for food is £100 a month (which averages out to £23 a week) and I rarely have a problem  Batch cooking from scratch helps.
