Parking ticket appeal help.
Hello,
Can anyone here give me some advice on appealing a parking ticket?
My friends and I parked in a designated bay in Notting Hill a month or so ago, and got out of the car to pay, only to find that the meter was out of order.
A big sign next to it told us to "Pay the fast and easy way, by phone" so that what we did. My friend called the number and gave his credit card details, and received a text confirming that we had paid.
Being a suspicious of these things, and also too skint to afford a fine, we wanted to double check that it had gone through, so we asked a passing warden to check for us. He said that we hadn't been registered on the system and that we should call back to sort it out.
We then called back and were told that we had definitely paid and would not receive a fine.
So we happily went on our way, mooching about, until we returned to the car to find a parking ticket.
So we called the agency again, who told us that it was their fault, a computer was down, they were aware of the issue, and that they were very sorry. They said they were unable to cancel the fine process, and that all we'd have to do is appeal it and the error would be recognised.
Of course, they have now turned down our appeal, and are demanding payment.
HELP!
Helpfully, my friend who got the text deleted it. Doh!
Is it possible to get phone records if you are pay as you go? That way we coulf prove we called them twice before receiving a fine.
any help much appreciated!

Same just happened to me in York. I registered for pay by text and thought that i'd applied for parking from that time, but for some reason I'd done something wrong and it hadn't gone through. I appealed the fine and they said that it was clear that I had registered and must have made a mistake, so they cancelled the fine and sent me written instructions. Good luck!0

Not sure if you will be able to get the text back, but since you have spoken to the agency and confirmed that its their problem, call them back and get them to give you the reference number for the ticket and also since your friend paid by CC get a statement from the bank showing the payment for parking and send this two off to the local authority with a polite letter saying I paid find copies of proof of payment please cancel ticket.
Hope that helps0 -
As didi said there shouldn't be a problem because it'll be on the bank statement. It's annoying though, you did everything right, I would be feeling frustrated until it was sorted.
