Will this be a problem when applying for a new card?

Trying to sort out the gfs finances and have found a potential stumbling block. She's just finished her PhD and only working part-time until she finds another job. Her bank have written to say they will be reducing her overdraft in October so I'm trying to get her to shift some debt onto a O% credit card for a while, at least until she can afford to pay it off.

The problem I can see is that all through Uni she had her credit card and bank account registered at her parents address. I can see why cos as a student you tend to change address quite alot. I've just added her to the electoral roll where we live now - I'm not sure where she was registered previously. Will it be a hindrance when applying for a new card if the addresses do not fully match up? I was thinking of suggesting that she does the application over the phone so she can at least explain this.

On a related note - I pay the rent (although we're joint tenants) and she pays me whatever she can afford (which is next to nothing at the moment). Is it reasonable for her to say her rent is £0 on an application?

Thanks.

    Yes to both questions.
If you phone customer services and apply for the card of your choice it is generally easier, don't waffle and stick to the facts ,if there is a delay with your application they may just be checking the new address details, they may also ask for utility bills etc for your current address to support you application.Again the telephone is ideal for explaining this and your circumstances.
    Give it a go.
Thousands of people move every week and they have credit cards so the company you will be applying to will have had plenty of experience of your type of circumstances.
If you get stuck or unsure then post here again.
