Two Many Cards

What im thinking of doing is closing my Barclaycard Amex and Visa credit Cards , also my Santander Mastercard .These were used as cashback cards as i pay off balance every month. The amex one is not used much and the visa not at all i mainly use the Santander Mastercard. But after the 123 interest cut i have fallen out with Santander and started to move my accounts from them .I have a Tesco current account hoping for 2 , i notice they have a credit card that pays points maybe i will move to that .Is it a good idea to close cards also it means less bloody passwords to remember....
Nice to save.

Aren't the Barclays Amex/Visa a single account combo anyway?

That sounds more like three many cards than two many :D.

It sounds like none of them have much or any balance on them:

I would therefore and this does depend on you have a good credit history/you have checked your score and it is high/low to nothing balances on the cards you have

    - apply for the card you want once you have it close the one you like the least (which sounds like santander)

Personally I think 3 or 4 credit cards sounds about right -
    one for balance transfers
    one to earn cash back
    one for holidays
and one interest free purchases - for emergencies etc - apply for as and when needed.
