How late can the first sicknote be for ESA?

Options
I'm helping a friend with an ESA claim. She applied over the phone on the 30th Jan and was told that her sicknote needed to be from the 6th Feb. She's only just managed to get a GP appointment this Friday (march 3rd.) Is she too late? The sick note will have to be backdated to the 6th Feb but when I was in the ESA assessment stage I was told that your first sicknote can only cover a month period. Will the claim have been cancelled or something because it's taken too long? She was going to take the sick note straight to the jobcentre, and she's just sent off her how-your-disability-affects-you form.

The sick note doesn't cover a month long period unless the doctor states it does - not sure where your info has come from on that, but it isn't a thing.

I suggest your friend contacts ESA and explains the situation and gets information from them, instead of an open forum.
