White vinegar, water and a drop of washing liquid a great window cleaner.

Turps is a great degreaser although it does smell so best wipe of the smell with a damp cloth with some washing up liquid, I sue it for cleaning around cooker hoods.

Star drops is also a great all round cleaner

Cif for window upvc window frames usually once or twice a year and i swill down with a hose pipe to get rid of the residue.

I swear by bar keepers friend a great cleaner for hobs, log burner (glass to get rid of tar) and brilliant on upvc even better than cif. Its very cheap about £2 and need very little on a damp cloth
  • Also frequently recommended here is cheap bio washing powder for soaking burnt-on grime off pots and pans.
BTW if you hate vinegar, lemon juice is the rich man's substitute.

Liquid ammonia is great for cleaning windows and general de greasing. I got it for cleaning the inside of the car windscreens as with the sun so much lower in the sky it was getting dangerous as they were so manky.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Hi, I use biological washing powder to clean my oven and hob, disolved in hot water. The enzymes eat the cooked on grease. (yum)

I love my steam cleaner. Floors, hobs, sinks, toilets, and even defrosts the freezer in no time :j

I also use white vinegar for wiping round when I haven't got the steam cleaner on the go.

I remember my mum using Stardrops many years ago. Think I'll get some of that too, now you've all recommended it :D
  • I have some focus own brand sugar soap thats great for cleaning down painted areas & kitchen cupboards, and fab on UPVC window frames (especially if they're nicotined stained) only about £1.50

Husbands are easy enough to come by (probably TOO easy!), and mine, like most, is equipped with the 'put-upon martyr' feature. This continuous grumble conveniently alerts you to the fact that your model is in operation. More sophisticated models will demonstrate potential overheating with helpful noises like 'What have you been DOING all day?' and 'Do I have to do EVERYTHING around here?' :)

Good luck in getting your refund processed quickly!

and lets not forget the other little ditty`s they`re so fond of coming out with " I`ve hoovered up for you"
    Its his house as well!:rotfl:
