in Credit cards
I use a credit card that gifts me 1% cashback for all my personal purchases. It yields me a decent amount in cashback every year (I pay off the full amount every month, so it leaves me quids in) and thought it may be a good idea to do the same with business purchases.
Having researched company and business credit cards, I've found three providers that give rewards, be they cash or another incentive:
- American Express
- Santander
- Utility Warehouse
Are there any other UK debit or credit card companies that provide ongoing cashback or other decent rewards for using their cards for businesses?
As a related question, would there be any issues in getting a cashback credit card for individuals, such as those provided by the likes of Amex, Capital One and MBNA, and then using them for business purchases?
Thank you.

I asked the same question on UK Business Forums not long ago and the answer I got from most of the members was that key drawback is that HMRC could poke through your personal account.
However, another drawback is that some cards might have something in the T's and C's that prohibits it (although I can't see why they'd enforce it strictly). Also, I believe HMRC could be unhappy that you're personally benefiting from business expense (i.e. that those benefits are not being taxed) but I've heard it's quite a common thing to do.
That said, I've heard it's quite a common thing to do and I've been using my personal Amex partly for business stuff for a while.
With Amex, I believe you can get a supplementary card for yourself for business use - this would mean one card fee but a separated statement. I am contemplating doing this myself.0 -
Thanks for the feedback!
The MD of my client was very eager to use his personal credit card for their PPC advertising because they were spending hundreds of thousands of pounds a year so 1% of that was a tidy sum
Anybody else know any credit or prepaid cards for businesses that provide cashback or decent ongoing rewards?
Thanks.0 -
Anyone got any recommendations pls?0

Surely the MD of your client has someone who can advise him on these situations.0
