Hey,

I've order a new car and been told it gets delivered on the 8th March. This is the first time iv ordered a new car so i have a few questions which i hope other people could help me with.

1) Will the dealership tell me what the registration plate number is going to be prior to me coming in to collect me car so i can sort insurance out?
2) What happens with Car Tax on a new car? As ill be driving the car home when it arrives if car tax hasnt been paid then wont that make my insurance invalid, how do i go about paying car tax on a new car before i get it?

I know those questions might sound stupid but as iv never had a brand new car before i dont really understand how it all works. Any help would be great please.

Thanks

What did the dealer say when you asked them?

If its a brand new car, the dealer can tax if for you.

Most dealers can also arrange 5 or 7 days of insurance at no charge.

If you talk to them, they'll probably have a small selection of numbers that you can take your pick of - find one you fancy!

The dealer should have contacted you by now to give you a choice of plates (we used to call up the customer a week before), that said it is new reg day today so they will be manic for the next day or two so perhaps they will call Friday or Saturday.
As above the RFL may have been built into the invoice for you & the dealer should arrange 7 day insurance for you.
