Couldn't exit car park before maximum stay limit

I parked in a carpark today with a 4 hour maximum stay limit and an ANPR system to enforce it. The problem is I was unable to exit the carpark when I wanted to leave because roadworks had been set up on the road outside causing a massive traffic jam - it took me over an hour to exit. although I left the space within 3 1/2 hours I didnt leave until 4 1/2 hours after entry.
I've got photos of the traffic jam and I also contacted the company via email at the time but what are the chances of the trying to push through with a charge anyway? If they do send me a bill what is the best approach to contest it?

I would prob advise to wait and see first! I wouldn't have bothered contacting them!
Now you just have to wait, then come back if you get a letter!0 -

I only contacted them because I know they're quite aggressive sending out charge notices. The carpark in question is next to work and a lot of people I know have parked there and overstayed and it seems guaranteed the operator sends out a PCN.0 -
You could name the PPC so the regulars can give you more advice0
