hi I wonder if anyone knows how to compare utilities if I have never had a bill before. its my first home. at the moment dual fuel is with edf and tariff says variable deemed standard electricity and deemed gas. says estimated annual cost £570.58 for electric this is for a single person in a one bed bungalow, and gas estimated annual cost £585.38. can I ask what sort of price people are paying for dual fuel in one bed property. I am confused how to find a better deal as never had to do it before I have no idea what to look for. thanks

Don't need a bill, use the national averages to start with: 12,500kWh for Gas and 3100kWh for electricity.
For comparison I live on my own in a one bedroom flat and I use 10,000 kWh gas and 2500kWh electricity on average a year. Your figures may not be far away from this depending on how warm you want to be and the state/condition of the property.
Also don't just look at duel fuel it may be cheaper to have gas with one company and electricity with another. Use the MSE Cheap Energy Club to look at the options available for you and to show gas/leccy only options.0 -
Ring your supplier and ask them for the Annual Quantity (gas) and Estimated Annual Consumption (electricity) figures for your property. This is historical data held by the data collectors adjusted for weather. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
