All very interesting, but more relevant to the Motoring board. This board is about Parking not Speeding.

One slight error, a NIP for speeding is required to be served within 14 days, not sent within 14 days.0

Yes, 'served' as in received by the keeper. Day 1 is the day following the alleged offence, and it's 14 actual days, not 14 working days.Rover_Driver wrote: »One slight error, a NIP for speeding is required to be served within 14 days, not sent within 14 days.
What it also doesn't say is that even if received outside the 14 days, the keeper is still obliged to provide the driver's details, otherwise he commits a s172 offence. But the form should be returned with a covering letter, saying 'Tough luck Old Bill, you can't prosecute because you were too slow sending the NIP', or words to that effect.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0
