The wording was wrong even in your attempt to provide a simple explanation.

Do you know what a summary offence is?

    Yes I do.

I was giving a simple explanation. Yes I should've included absolute, it happens.

Don't most companies autorenew nowadays to stop this happening? Which company were you insured with?

Most people refuse to allow auto-renewal of anything as otherwise you just pay top price every time. You still get reminders, more than one usually (I got four last time as it got closer and closer to renewal), so not sure how your wife missed all of them OP.

No need from the word summary to appear if you were trying to keep it simple.

To be fair there's no need for your reply, nor this one either. It's going round in circles.

The OP is guilty of the offence and will get a conviction. They can mitigate sentencing - though may not be successful and should consider accepting the 6 points and fine.

    On what grounds?

    On what grounds?

As in, anyone can go to court and explain the circumstances, and hope the judge is feeling lenient.

I'm not suggesting that there is any grounds for it and even said that may not be successful and they should consider just taking the fine and points.

Courts make strange decisions all the time, so I'm not going to say a court will definitely do x, y or z.

You originally said it's a summary offence.
