I didn't win after all - Wrong prize given!

So today I get the following email : You entered Poundland’s Spin to Win competition recently and we sent you the wrong code to redeem your prize at Brewer’s Fayre restaurants.

Here is the right code to claim your prize, which should have been a Buy One Get One Free offer ( code below).

I was originally told I had won a £30 voucher am now cancelling my lunch with my Dad I had arranged. :(

OMG that's terrible of them - for the sake of £30 to a company like that! How disappointing.

    Jx
PS have tweeted them both. Fingers crossed for you that they do something for you and your dad xx

That's a shame as the win was one of the few real prizes on offer.

Tightwads it would only cost them £15 to put it right (they send you £15 to go with the buy one get one free voucher).

Apart from complaining to them there is the ASA (who will probably tell them to be more careful in future "to avoid disappointment" but you never know)

  • Thanks guys - I don't know if it's worth me complaining for a £30 prize but I will look into it MJM

    Thanks for your tweets Hazyjo.

The annoying thing is - if we had gone a couple of days ago we would have used the voucher and it would have been too late for them to change the prize but tomorrow was the first day I was free.

I have had the same email as you! I was told I had won the £30 voucher and had an email from Poundland saying that they had sent the wrong voucher code.
I'm so upset too as I'm heavily pregnant and was planning to spend this weekend with my fiancee and had planned to go out for a meal.. I know it sounds silly and we still got a code to say Buy One Get One Free but it's not the same as getting a whole starter, 2 meals, desserts up to the price of £30 for FREE!
I will be sending an email to complain as they shouldn't get our hopes up Hun for no reason.. good luck on more comps and let's hope for a big win!

    Lucky dust xx

I'm so sorry that the same thing has happened to you too.

It doesn't sound silly at all - we aren't going at all now as it is a bit of a drive to get to the closest Brewer's Fayre.

I hope you still enjoy the meal if you do go.

Good luck to you to with the baby and the comps xx

Brewers Fayre (@brewersfayre) have replied saying to DM them on twitter. Good luck.

Would suggest the same thing for Sophie too.

    Keep us informed :)

Thanks so much Hazyjo but I don't use social media at all.

The problem was with Poundland rather then Brewer's Fayre as they are running the comp - I did email them a couple of days ago but haven't heard back! I am just very annoyed with them as I am sure there are many others who had the same issue.

They told me i had won a Diners Club card for a month. All meals buy one get one free all that time. We eat out a lot so it was great. I claimed it then got an email saying becaues i had won one 10 years ago i couldnt have another. They said i coud buy one for £1 for 3 months . But i had to remember to cancel it in 3 months time .
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The exact same thing happened to me (and like you I didn't use the voucher straight away) But thank you hazyjo, I tweeted them and they answered immediately and after confirming my original prize code they have sent me another £30 voucher.

Thanks again hazyjo :T and I hope booklover500 you can work something out without twitter x
