Civil Enforcement Ltd County Claim

Please help!

I have received an N1SDT claim form along with a ‘particulars of claim’ letter from Civil Enforcement Ltd. I have used the acknowledgement of service on the moneyclaim website as advised in the newbies post. I know I have to now prepare a defence but I don’t know where to start? I’m struggling to understand the ones I have seen in other threads.

A year ago I parked in a private car park where you have to pay by telephone. I attempted to pay by phone but their phone payment system was down – it kept hanging up as if the number was disconnected. They sent me a PCN along with a reference to appeal but when I tried to use the appeals website, I found the ref they had given me didn’t work. I attempted to send them an email but it bounced back, so in the end I left a comment on their website stating my case as to why I wouldn’t be paying.

I then started to receive threatening letters from company called ZZ something - I responded once by letter (used a template on MSE) explaining what had happened. I did not receive a response to my letter , but continued to receive l threatening letters from them and Wright Hassel which I ignored. I then received the county claim letter.

They are asking for £329.98 which I really don’t want to pay!

£330, outrageous. Even if they took you to court and won, which seems unlikely in the circumstances, the most a judge would award them is usually about £200.

Complain in writing to your local Trading Standards Office.

Same as all the other threads in the last 24 hours headed 'Civil Enforcement claim'.

Easy to defend - astonished we keep getting new threads asking the same thing that's just a few posts down with a template response.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
