Yellow dusters

I'm trying to replace my ancient yellow dusters but find the quality is so bad. After buying two lots, one from Fleaby and the other from Ama*on I'm disappointed with the thin material which is almost see through.

Is there anywhere I can buy the old fashioned thick dusters?

Thanks.

  • I bought white dusters in Lakeland, Gers. Bit pricey but they lift the dust rather than move it around. These will see me out !
  • Hi GERS . I started buying the Lakeland white version a few decades ago . Same quality and thickness as good yellow ones but no dye to run when washing . I've topped them up over the years put all are still going strong . Not sure if they still sell them but maybe worth a look when you're down in Glasgow .
Oddly I mentioned you this morning on the Garden Fence thread re voluntary drivers . Hope you and Mum are well - I try to read the Daily when I can but as you know struggle to keep up .

Sorry I can't help, but I do know exactly what you mean about how thin and pathetic they are these days. You could try doubling them up. I've given up buying them and use micro fibre cloths (the thinner ones not the towelling type).

Thanks - I'll look for these, don't suppose the colour matters a jot!

Great minds... thanks. I'll look online, not down again until the weekend after next.

I use microfibre cloths for lots of things though don't like using them for dusting, no idea why! I even use them rather than flannels or sponges in the shower.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
  • I am getting on a bit but I inherited my mums habit of having a rag bag, my mum used to cut up my dads old vests into large squares and they did the trick. I copied when I first married 44 years ago. Still do it now, but with DH old white tee shirts. They don't leave bits of fluff and I wash them to death. I am fussy what I use, not any old tee shirt will do. It's got to be soft And only white ones will do!

I find they work best for dusting if used damp.

Gers, I can't tell you where to get them now, I've had mine for ages and I treasure them.. I remember as a child seeing housewives shaking their yellow dusters out of the windows. Not seen that for decades. I wonder where they shake them now.
