I have 3 children 2 under 16 and the other 18 whos been in full time education since leaving school,
I was receiving 168 weekly which has now gone down to 83 weekly.
Despite sending them proof of my sons education they still haven't increased my payment.
I can't afford to live on the money I currently get I've sent letters but they still want more information it's a joke this has been going on since july last year.
Any ideas anyone?

What more information are they asking for?

Are they asking for more information on what course your son is doing?
  • My understanding was that while you receive Child Benefit, they are a child.
    BUT
There is some difference between say an 18 year old carrying on into 6th form, and some of the colleges.
I cannot remember what or why, but some 'further/higher' education colleges are not classed as the same as a traditional 6th form.
So if your 18 year old is going there, DWP may not class them as a child.

I used to have to send details to them to show what A levels they were taking, and letter headed note from school about the course - so DWP could confirm which type of school/college it was.

They want information to give you money so why are you so angry? Should they just go on your word alone?

There is no need for this comment 'new' poster.

The op has already said she has sent them information concerning her son's course which is why I asked her if they were asking for more information on that course.

    What course does he do?

    What information have you supplied?

What information are they still asking for?

Even if they stopped CB for the elder, is it right that it would be cut by 2 when there are 2 children left in education?

you don't get equal amounts for each child.

for example, the cut off for one child is 26k ( no childcare and no disabilities) the cut off for 2 kids is 32k.
so on 27k you would receive ct. if you had 2 kids, if the eldest no longer meets the criteria for full time, non advanced education, the tax credit amount wouldn't be halved, but stop completely.
