Hi I just wondering when making sure you have 2 direct debits when you are switching bank accounts, can a direct debit be a yearly one (Like the council's garden waste collection)?

Appreciate any help

Thx

Typically switching offers will specify 'active' direct debits, which means that annual ones would suffice, but you'd need to check the terms of the offer you're contemplating, as there isn't a standard and each can set whatever rules they choose....

I think you will find that they need to be monthly. However you can use a £1 to post office savings account and £1 to Tesco savings account.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

OP is talking specifically about switching incentives, not interest/reward benefits.

Be wary of Co-op. Have read they didn't count Council tax and water for Feb/Mar switchers as they weren't collected within 30 days of account switching so they said not active
It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type
