Replacing tail light cover
Hi, I was waiting to fill up at the petrol station the other day and reversed back to move towards a vacant pump. Stupidly, I didn't realise there was a bollard in my vicinity and hit it a little. It clipped my right tail light and about a two inch piece of the plastic cover broke off. The light itself is fine and still works. I've seen a chap on my road cover a break with gaffer tape but I'm not sure about this. I don't know whether it's enough to get pulled over but I don't want to take a chance. As the light isn't damaged and it's a small break, I hope I can do it myself and avoid going to a garage and paying more than necessary. My car is a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4l, 2014 model. I've uploaded an image to Imgur (there's a scratch below the tail light but that's not so pressing).

Any help is appreciated. Cheers!

Thanks, can I just buy a replacement cover online (obviously searching for one that fits my car exactly). I know Halfords would probably do it, but no point paying more than necessary0

look for 2nd hand.
Make sure your light comes from a 3/5 door as appropriate to your model.

Oh, I don't even need the light fixed, just the casing. The light still works. I assume I can just take off the casing and replace it without even needing to replace the light.0

yes , bulbs are on one bit which pops out , casing is separate
then again 2nd hand off ebay may come as whole unit anyway so possible swap completeEx forum ambassador

If you have a scrapyard nearby you'd have a fair chance of being able to find replacement pretty easily - possibly cheaper than eBay as well. Just a thought.0

You can get sets of transparent tape - clear, red and amber for temporary repairs. Better than gaffer tape because you retain the proper colour for the broken light cover. Maybe Halfords? My brother gave me some for a cracked tail light but I don't know where he got it from.0

DIdn't you keep the 2 inch piece that broke off? If you did you can just glue it back with JB Weld or Araldite.0

Expect to pay £10 to £15 at your local scrap yard for the complete light unit. Bumper should clip back into place which just leaves that scuff.0
