Colouring book suitable for a nine year old

I am looking for a colouring book for a nine year old boy.
He is too old for the childrens ones, but not old enough for the adult ones (the sections are too small and it would cause him frustration as he would not be able to keep within the lines).
Amazon do not have 'look inside' on the colouring books so its hard to tell if they would suit.
Does anyones year 5 or 6 child colour? what books do they enjoy?
I also plan to get myself an adult one so we can colour together, any recommendations on what pencils/pens to use with these?
Thanks

The Works had quite a good selection when I was last in there. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I'm an adult and find the tiny sections of adult colouring books very frustrating - they're so hard to see! I've seen recently the Map colouring book and the Wildlife Map colouring book, which I'm considering buying. I googled the first, and on 'images', several of the pages are shown. I only heard about the second one yesterday, but externally it looks to be a similar format. Other map colouring books seem to be ok too - but no good if he doesn't like maps! They're about £12.99, but seem quite large.
Colour With Mum is another good one - two pictures on the same theme, but one is more complicated than the other. My 18 year old (who has a learning disability) finds children's colouring books way too easy and boring, and adult ones too intricate, but this is quite a good one, apart from the title! I think that there is another book in the same format, but I don't know what it's called. At £4.99, definitely worth the money - a good range of pictures rather than just patterns.
Doodle colouring books are usually quite good too. The Doodlepaedia range are usually about £6, but Aldi had them in for £2.99, and last week they were reduced to 99p. There is some colouring, space for drawing and doodling, and lots of short but interesting facts. We've had the full range, and my son has had the animals version twice.0 -
This one is apparently aimed at boys https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Girls-Glorious-Colouring-Book-Delightfully-Detailed-Designs/1780552300/
It gets quite good reviews0 -
Thank you all
I have ordered Colour with Mum, seems perfect for something we can do together. I bought a used copy
for £2.81 hopefully there will be plenty of pictures still to colour.
This will be fine until we can get into town in a few weeks to look in the shops (will be much easier when I can flick through the whole book).
Those map colouring books look fantastic I think my son would love them (plus he will learn as well, always a bonus). There are expensive but I shall definitely have it my list for town where I can have a proper look before buying.0 -
There was some lovely colouring books in my Poundland stores last week. Quite suitable for a 9year old. I bought a couple for my 10 year old nieces.0

I love colouring! I agree the works has a great selection at really great prices. Some are quite intricate but others have bigger patterns. There are animal themed ones, general patterns etc. Just treated myself to a unicorn one ! They do great pencils too. I got 36 for £3 in a nice little holder.0

He has lots of value colouring pencils already. Are they just as good as the more expensive 'adult' ones? They probably are, I rarely buy branded foodstuff can't notice a difference so I suppose its the same with stationery.0 -
Personally I think a good pencil is far better, but I don't think my children notice any difference.
My youngest (9) loves colouring, but she likes the adult ones with all the little detail. We often use two ended sharpies, with thick and thin ends depending on what you are colouring.0 -
Can you print out your own? Do a google search for <whatever> colouring pictures and find some you like?

Any brand you would recommend these are on offer at Mr T for the same price at the mo https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/23f/Staedtler-157-SB12-Ergosoft-Triangular-Colouring-Pencils/B000FFT1KA/ref=sr_1_17?s=officeproduct&ie=UTF8&qid=1488318656&sr=1-17&keywords=colouring%2Bpencils&th=1
It is alot of money (even at half price) for 12 pencils!ThumbRemote wrote: »Can you print out your own? Do a google search for <whatever> colouring pictures and find some you like?
