Hi,
I purchased a sofa in 2013 from SCS and I took out an extended warranty which I didn't want to but the wife made me.
Earlier this year a problem arose where a lump appeared and it was uncomfortable to sit on so I contacted them and they sent an engineer out who reported to the office the fibres had compacted and this wasn't covered on the warranty.
letters were sent to the complaints dept but they are standing firm and this is there final answer.
Can anyone help on my next course of action.
Should I go to the ombudsman or my credit card company under section 75 rule.
please help

On what basis would you use the section 75 ?
Maybe look at getting a report done from an independant person, needs to be someone who is in the area of repairing sofas but have done reports before.
Others will either add to what I said or correct me so give others a chance to reply.0 -

Your fibres compacting and going flat are a) a natural occurrence and b) can only be prevented by rigorous fluffing, I imagine that's what an independent report will say as well. Your warranty doesn't extend your statutory rights it just gives you the perks included in it, you will need to get an independent manufacturers report to verify that the fault is an inherent manufacturing defect after that SCS will either refund, repair or replace the item (up to them which) and refund the cost of the report0
