Hungarian Forint

Having a stupid day so if someone could sort out my brain, it would be appreciated!

Looking at some spa costs in the hotel we will be staying at in Budapest, and cannot calculate into stg. So if some could tell me if 16.000 HUF (as shown on their price) is 16,000HUF or 16, I will be forever grateful.

  • as 16 would be about 4p I'm fairly certain £44 (16,000) is the right number.

As 16 HUF is about 4p I think you could make an educated guess.

In many parts of the world (certainly France and French-speaking countries) they use a comma as a decimal point and a full stop where we would use a comma when writing number. So if I want my French stockbroker to invest a hundred and twenty thousand, four hundred and twenty Euro, and 45 cents for me, I would write the number as:
    120.420,45

And to make things even worse, Indians use Lakkh (a hundred thousand) and Crore (ten million). So to an Indian I would write the same number as:
    1,20,420.45
  • Thanks guys, my brain complete wool today!
