How can I find the car I want?

I'm looking into buying a 2nd hand car within the next 12 months, and being a novice at this sort of thing would like to ask for some advice.

Is there any websites I can go on to browse 2nd hand cars in my area that I can input specifics that I would like?

i.e. I would like-

Not bothered about make/model.

Low Tax Bracket.

Quite roomy, as I have a hubby that likes fishing, and 2 kids.

Power steering.

Central locking.

As we can't afford it just yet, I don't really want to be calling or going to car forecourts, as I can't be doing with the hassle of them trying to sell me things I don't want.

I would like to browse online to see what sort of cars are available, & get an idea of prices too.

Any help much appreciated!

something around £1500.

Is there any way I can find out the value of my current car without having to buy one of those books?

I think an estate car is suitable in your situation. Ebay is nearly always a good deal if you/hubby knows about cars, the prices there are usually cheaper than the main magazines ie autotrader etc.

Rover do not make very reliable cars, a lot of things tend to go wrong with them. Japanese cars have the best reliability, so look for them instead. Something like a toyota or nissan estate car is quite suitable for your needs. If estate is not required then a saloon family car.

For a good value cheap roomy car I would recommend a Skoda Felicia estate. It will meet all your requirements if you get the correct model/year (for power steering and central locking).

The car I have ATM is a Skoda Felicia hatchback. I've had it for 3 years and it belonged to my parents B4 that.

It has a few things wrong with it though and i'm looking to replace.
