Returning an item by Royal Mail question(s)

I am returning an item of clothing that does not fit.
I have gone through the return item section on ebay. I am a bit confused. Firstly, it says choose between Royal Mail returns or Courier Plus. Royal Mail is £2.99, CP is more. I chose RM. It says I should print out the return label.
Do I need to wait for the seller to approve the return or can I just return the item?
If I send it by RM is it just £2.99 or is it £2.99 plus the actual weight cost? I need to make sure it is tracked so does the £2.99 RM label ensure it is tracked completely?
Thanks.

If you are being offered a label then then returned has been authorised. Some sellers have it so they are authorised automatically.
It is £2.99 fixed cost, there will be no more to be paid, It is also fully tracked so there is no arguments about it being lost in the post.0
