Is it normal for Upload to be much faster than Download?

All my previous internet services have had much faster Downloads, than Uploads.
I've just gone onto 4G, and run a speed test.
Upload is showing as being almost 5x as fast as Download.

Not normal at all, as most internet connections are based on people wanting/needing a lot more download than upload.
However if you're running a 4g connection it could be that the download is being shared with a number of people who are utilising it heavily, but not many are uploading.0 -
Just redid the test, and the gap has narrowed.
It's now ~ 2.5x0 -
Try a different server for the speed test. When tesing your speed you are also testing theirs.
If they have a lot of tests running at that point the results will be lower.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've noticed much higher upload rates (proportionally) with 4G than ADSL. But I don't think the upload speed has ever been higher that the download speed!
Maybe so many people are downloading on the 4G network that download speeds have dropped, while (with hardly anyone uploading), upload speeds remain unaffected...?0 -

This ^^
The problem with so called 4G is that most devices connected to it won't be using any upload bandwidth AND the 4G providers aren't buying enough wholesale bandwidth to cater for usage in some areas of the country.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Not at all normal
ADSL is asymmetric, upload always way slower than download , is nature of technology
This is what I get currently on adsl
Highest I had was just over 1mb
This is an example of 4G I had last year, this ratio was constant for me
This is Fibre I had in 2015
This is only time I had faster upload it was at libraryPlease be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. Bob ... whose 4G service are you using?
I sometimes get faster upload vs download on mobile data (3G or 4G), and it is usually more of a problem with MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators ... those who piggyback on a major provider's network. As I recall, there are only 4 major providers in the UK ... EE, O2, Vodafone and 3).0
