Gas Meter Placement

Options
Hi All

I was looking for some advice.

My energy company recently moved the placement of my Gas Meter. This was originally internally fitted (found in my kitchen) but has now been installed external (next to my front door).

Due to it's close proximity and this being my only external door. I am wondering if this is allowed legally in terms of Health & Safety and Gas Safety?

Here is a rough diagram of my house and the moved placement of my meter. Below is a link

Many thanks in advance!

As a meter reader for nearly 20 years meter boxes next to back or front doors is very common. Unless the box juts out and causes problems for a car in a drive I cannot see a problem.

Safer by the front door than in the kitchen.

I'm no expert, but I don't think it was permitted where it was originally located.
I believe it has to be positioned on an external wall. Can be internally or externally located, but must be an external wall.

Lots of people have them located by the front door, either internally or externally.

    No.........................
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

There is no legal distance requirements for gas meters and door/window/wall position.

There is a requirement for gas meter/pipework and electrical switch gear/cables to be a specific distance apart.
