Stamp duty if over £125k, buildings & contents insurance (we paid annually upfront), a larger than normal first mortgage payment if it is paid monthly in advance (nationwide for example), furniture, moving costs if applicable, anything that you need to pay for in the new house (e.g. Paint)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Just reading the comments about 3 bedroom properties being £130k and expensive.... where I live you don't even get 1 bedroom apartment for that price and no, it is not London! Where do you all live? I wish I live there..
Everyone else has already answered OP's question so I wish the OP best of luck. I am a first time buyer and recently bought a maisonette on shared ownership basis. It was a very frustating experience for me, it is not over yet ...but it will as soon as the solicitors start doing their job.0 -
House prices vary all over the country. If you are having trouble finding a house in your budget within a main town/city, try looking just outside it. My own house is just outside Colchester and is 30% cheaper for the same property type/size. I can walk into town within the hour and drive there in 10 mins.
