What hand saw to cut laminated MDF?

I need to cut some small notches out of a laminated MDF fireplace, by hand I'm guessing for greater accuracy.

What saw will I need? I'm guessing one with lots of teeth but any preference over what type of saw? (I know they have lots of different names)
Thanks everyone

  • Irwin Jack cut hand saws are fine , keep the angle of the saw shallow and not too steep to reduce breakout on the back/underside of the board..

I think screwfix etc sell them..

I think it is in the USA . I agree the dust is bad but it is used in so many products now and I am not sure that I would want to go back to the old building methods.

Any substance is dust/particulate form is harmful.. MDF which is timber in dust form bonded with Urea- Formaldehyde resins was toxic but is no longer used in the production of MDF so in dust form its no more harmful than flour or castor sugar if you inhale enough.

The irony was the US banned MDF at the time but was more than happy to pump all manner of nasty substances into meat and processed food........
