Thomson holiday price, dramatic reduction

Guessed that might be the case. I went on to read the latest reviews as when we booked most of the reviews were for Christmas, as soon as I went on page the price stood out as it was so much cheaper! Ok that's the way it is but over a certain amount unless there is a big change in currency you should get something back as it is not likely to change that much in the opposite direction.

If you'd have looked at it another time the price could just as easily have increased.

Why should you be able to get something back if you don't want to pay more if the price increases? Where would tour ops draw the line with refunds? How do they keep track of thousands and thousands of bookings, and constantly change the price of them?
  • But they are the ones who manipulate the price for their own goal in most cases. Like with the price of petrol etc it's wrong!!

While I agree with your feeling {I think we all feel the same way when we find out we have over paid for items due to price fluctuations} this is the real world and {as annoying as it is} we just have to live with it.:(
  • That is quite a reduction but its as they still have availability last minute. If you wait until last minute to book you have less choice but generally lower prices.

If you are going out of school holidays and really want the cheapest price then booking last minute is a good option as long as you have flexibility over where.

It can move the other way too though. I booked a holiday to South Africa DIY and it went up 30 percent after I booked due to exchange rate movements largely. I've booked summer hols through First Choice and after the price has risen, its just supply and demand and exchange rates.
  • The holiday I was looking at through Thomsons is UP £800 tonight compared to Thursday.

...er yes, the difference if the store has a price promise, have benefited many times from John Lewis's. TUI need to devise some sort of promise for these circumstances to gain brand loyalty.

  • How much would it cost to cancel and rebook?

A lot of the "islands" including the Canary Islands are now costing a LOT more due {I believe} to the problems in the mainland resorts. Guess it is supply/demand and the hotels ect cashing in.:(
We have been lucky with our holidays so far both last year and the ones booked for this one but unless there are big changes regarding the popular mainland resorts we will all be paying more for our holidays.
  • Thomson have 2 flights departing on the 17th March. A holiday on the early flight (TOM) is £939.30 but on the later departure (EZY)it's £1645.46.
