RSA INSURANCE AND ADPTATIONS - help

Hi
I have been broken into and had my mobility adptated car stolen. I am currently in the process of claiming on the insurance. My hand controls cost £250, I have been informed that the insurance will only be settled at £111 as they take into consideration wear and tear. I am slightly purplexed and annoyed as I will have to get new adaptations and will be out of pocket as they are essential and cannot drive without them.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Can you appeal? What have other done, I am just thinking about the future - should I get extra insurance to cover adaptations?
Thanks in advance

Unless the insurance has "new for old" cover then they will reduce the claim, have you spoken to notability about this or was it your own car?0

Your hand controls should be insured by RSA Motabity. Motability should fit them again at their cost.0

Sounds like if it was a Motability car, it would be fine, but the OP doesn't make that clear: says it was a 'mobility adptated' car.CTcelt1988 wrote: »Your hand controls should be insured by RSA Motabity. Motability should fit them again at their cost.
OP, it's always worth haggling over the value of a stolen car with an insurance company ... whether they'll budge or not is another matter.Signature removed for peace of mind0
