That's your opinion. Mines is that the OP should appeal based on the facts, not to lie to try make it sound better. She didn't consider child benefit contacting tax credits, she didn't believe she was entitled and that is the reason she didn't inform them.

    What?
I have said nothing at all about lying and I strongly resent that implication.

A judge set a legal precedent that a part of the DSS in possession of knowledge meant that any part of the DSS was in possession of it and that the department should take steps to ensure anyone in the department that needed to know could know.

I'm simply applying the same logic to HMRC and you have actually confirmed that this actually happens, though only in one direction.

If it can happen in one direction then it can happen in both directions.

Please don't tell me I am encouraging someone to lie just because you have a different opinion.

The OP has clearly said that she didn't report the change due to misunderstanding the changes in CTC for more than 2 children. Nothing to do with child benefit so appealing on the grounds that she thought child benefit would inform tax credits is untrue.

    Yes, I'm aware of that.
I'm not sure why you think that's what I'm suggesting is the course of action to follow.
