Parking Co sending letters to mums address??

After an exhausting Christmas Day, our toddler had a restless night in the hotel, keeping us all awake. My partner took her out in the car to settle her. He ended up stopping in the local service station and fell asleep himself, exceeding the 2 hour parking limit. We received the initial 'fine' for £60. Ignored it, then a letter with the threaten of court proceedings. Ignored that. My mum has received a letter from them today saying they have her address from a credit agency of an address that I have lived at.....I haven't lived there for 20 years!!!
My mum is a panicker and is now very stressed out about this letter going to her address and is worried sick that they will somehow chase her for the money. I have told her that it is nothing to do with her and she has nothing to worry about. She will not sleep much tonight because of this. I'm absolutely disgusted that they have been allowed to harass in this manner.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

is she the registered keeper with the DVLA ?

if not , she should not be bothered about debt collector letters (nobody should be bothered about them . - the NEWBIES sticky thread explains why)

the PPC can take the RK to court in england or wales , within 6 years , so that is the possible scenario IF this is in england or in wales ?

you can all IGNORE the debt collectors, they can do nothing except send out silly letters ( was it DRP or Zenith or ZZPS by any chance ?)

Which parking company is this? Some are litigious, so you need to be clear about the potential over the next 6 years, the amount of time they have to pursue this to the county court.

Have you asked the service station to intervene?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Why did you ignore this and not simply complain to the Services? If this is ParkingEye they sue the pants off people BUT will cancel if Welcome Break tell them to, before court claim stage. And all WB Service locations have webpages giving you a phone number/email to contact. Takes ten minutes.

BTW they will not sue the pants off your Mum nor send the boys round(LOL!) but you need to stop ignoring this. Or is it another firm?

This is a CIVIL matter, and absolutely not one that your mother should be getting upset about. All she needs do is pass on any letter which he receives to you.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • your mother can simply write gone away and return the letter , but keep dates letters sent so you can complain the relevant bodies such as the credit agency because of DPA being breached.
  • which parking co is this , and which debt colletion co wrote to your mum ?
