I joined vets4pets health scheme today.
£10 a month - vaccinations, monthly flea spot ons, quarterly worm spot ons, 6 nail clips, an annual health check, either a second health check or a vets appointment.
I paid a £20 surcharge as two vaccinations are needed.
I think it's a brilliant deal.
Any others on it?

I joined petplan classic plan too. That was about £23 a month.
This is for a cat.

Annual boosts - £0, dogs don't need it after initial boosters (you can titre test if you want to be sure)
Monthly flea - £0, dogs don't need it if they don't have fleas (do we treat ourselves for headlice or scabies every month?)
Quarterly worming - £0, again, do we worm ourselves every few months?
Nail clips - £0, taught my dogs to let me clip/file their nails down at home
Annual health check - £0, my vets are pretty on the ball and do a good MOT every time we're in there at no extra cost on top of whatever consult we've gone in for, and I give my dogs an external checkover at home for lumps, bumps, signs of soreness etc.

Admittedly, I might buy the odd pack of Advocate to treat any undetected lungworm, as it's rife in my area, but I get a prescription (£12 for both dogs) and order online (£31 for 6 pipettes) - so £43 which would last me 2 years, and if I had some concern about them having picked up worms (or saw evidence in their poo) I'd buy some Cestem online (generic version of Drontal), £4 per dog.

Personally, I don't find the vet's own health plans very economical, plus they're also there to encourage you to come in frequently so they can upsell you other products. I appreciate that vets are businesses, but I don't fall for the sweeties on the shop counter on the high street and I'm not going to be sucked in to a money-making scheme at the vet, especially if it exposes my pet to more chemicals than they need.

Petplan is a fantastic choice of insurers though, definitely considered one of the top companies to be with and vets are often very happy to deal direct with them.

    Erm... think you are right!

They used to have a really good deal which was pay something like £100 up front for life long vaccinations- the standard ones, not kennel cough, or rabies. However the nearest practice is 14 miles away and in case of an emergency I'd like a local vet.
I seem to think the annual boosters at my vet are around £24 each, the rabies one was £32 last week (Pet passport requirement.)

My dogs need annual boosters as they go into kennels quite a bit (the longest was 6 weeks recently when I had a major operation) and the kennels insist. They also needed kc vaccs.
Mine get wormed when we go to Ireland- as per pet passport and I also buy Cestem on-line. The large tablets were £2.50 each last time I ordered.

Mine don't get fleas but I am going to be tick aware as the year progresses. And yes, I clip claws with food treats ready to pop in mouths for the not-so-keen!!

Do I think £120 per year is a good deal? No
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Perhaps I should have said - it's for a cat.

So need the flea/worm/nail is needed.

The jabs are needed if I want to use a cattery, I know vets give them a look over during the annual jab anyway.

I joined mine at £10.99 a month for my cat.

This was after careful research, costing meds online & checking my Vets prescription policy.

It's a CVS vets they offer quite a lot for the cost.

Reckon I am saving £100 a year at least.

Do you get things I don't?
There are a few other things I get, but minor.

Cat needed a new microchip at first appointment and that was included as free, no surcharge.

That's a great deal too, the vets in my village is in it.
The extended opening hours of the weekends attracted me to pets4vets.
