Storage insurance

Does anyone know what the best way to go about getting storage insurance is? The storage place is quoting £10 per week which is more than my building and contents insurance currently is per month for my house

Thing is I don't know where to start, I've done a search but how do I know which storage insurance companies are reputable?

I've used Surewise before for car insurance and didn't have a problem.

I just a quick quote on their website and for a months insurance on approximately £5,000 worth of personal belongings you're looking at about £15.

I am paying £10 per week per storage container 225 cu ft including insurance. The insurance was 12% of the storage charge plus 10% Insurance tax so 13.2% in total. This was with the storage company but using a National Insurer.
  • I've just read on one of those self-storage companies' website that all customers must take out the insurance they provide and insure all of the stored contents at full replacement value.

Sounds like a scam to me.

But still insist that you have insurance? Shouldn't really be any of their business.
