Moving from separate gas/electricity suppliers to dual-fuel vs exit penalties

My current fixes are with Zog for gas (ending 5 March 2017) and First Utility for electricty (ending 31 May 2017).

The cheapest deal for me at the moment is a dual fuel fix with Scottish Power but I would have to pay a £30 exit charge with First Utility up until 12 Apr 2017.

Is it better to switch now and pay the £30 exit charge to secure the current price-fix, or wait until 12 April and effectively pay the Zog variable rate for gas in the interim 5 weeks up to 12 April?

I'm pretty sure the higher/variable cost for gas in the interim period would be far less than £30 - but the risk is that prices increase in the meantime and the Scottish Power fix gets pulled.

I can't make a decision.

Do not pay the Zog variable tariff as it is very expensive.
If you want to remain with Zog pending a switch from them, then opt for their Saturn tariff that has no early exit fees :)
