Phone numbers in ebay messages

Has anyone tried to send a phone number via ebay messages lately? I've bought something, and paid for it via paypal. The vendor is trying to give me the phone number of her friend who actually has the item. Two messages now have had a blank space where the number should have been,
In the past, I have had messages rejected when including contact details, ebay concerns about off site sales of course. I have always managed to swap phone numbers after the auction is finished though. It's crazy to drive miles away to collect and not have a phone number in case of anything going wrong.

The Seller will have your email address via Paypal and eBay.
you can ask them to use that and not eBay's message system0 -
If I want to send a message and Ebay is blocking me, I use this:
http://www.text2image.com
You can type in your message, and create an image file and send it that way.
I was trying to give someone some collection details the other day, and everything was being blocked.0 -
Write down number on a piece of paper. Take picture of paper, send image via ebay.0

That's insane.
Why would they make life so hard for their users??"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

eBay seem to think that if they spend a lot of money monitoring their message system that they will not lose income from off eBay sales.
As has already been shown from responses here, there are obvious ways to circumvent their bots.
It's a shame they don't spend a fraction of that on the checkout glitches that add to seller fees.
For what it's worth when eBay decided to impose their fees on postage / packing is when I decided they really don't deserve loyalty from me.0 -
Thanks everyone,
we managed to get past the censorship by a combination of writing out the numbers and using numerals. Next time, sending an image of the number will be a lot easier. Good idea.'Get Brexit done' is a lie[

The more and more I think of using eBay, the less I do. I know it's the same old problem but once you take into account eBay/Paypal fees it's not worth it in most cases.Savings as of April 2023 Savings account - £26460.50(14474.88)Current account - £2140.24(4576.79)Total - £28600.74(19051.67) £1010 (£65pm CS/BS) £250 CS/BS/JS0
