Address for bailiffs

Hi, this may not be in the right section, but here we go anyway.

I'm currently in the middle of a small claims dispute with my ex-housemate for outstanding council tax and utility bills. The judgement is in my favour and a warrant has been requested. She had moved back to her parents house so I sent them to their last known address. The issue I have is that the bailiffs have returned and advised that the address is incorrect. After checking the electoral roll it looks like they moved out in 2015.

I have an idea of the correct street (from her ex-boyfriend) but have no idea what number house it is. Can you guys suggest the best way to try and get my hands on an up to date address? I was thinking of going to her previous employer but I assume her personal details would be protected by data protection?

Is my only option to pay an investigator to get this info for me?

I just wanna get this sorted quickly. She owes over £700 but all bills are in my name so I need this so its me whose now liable. Any help appreciated.

Approaching a previous employer is not the right way to do this, data protection among other things, not to mention harming the debtors reference if the employer is that way inclined. Finder monkey looks like the UK's number one trace service that should be available to you, otherwise send a friend knocking on some doors down the street you suspect, (I'm looking for Harry, does he live here?) travel in the car alongside and then you know when it's the right house.
  • Okay, so I have managed to locate the full address somehow! Does anyone know if I will have to start the claim again from the start now I have the correct address? I spoke to a lady from the MCOL customer care team and she advised the warrant would be valid for a year? Is this indeed correct?

There really isn't much information on the website regarding what to do and I haven't even received my final returns from the bailiff centre yet!

You don't have to start the proceedings again, if you used the defendant's last known address.

There's a moot point here as you may have used an incorrect address, if she never lived there, but leave her to make an appeal on that basis if she wishes to.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
