Non Domestic business rates
Hi I've been living in my property since September 2015, I have my gas and electric with Ecotricity. Before I rented the property it was rented by the Red Cross so was down as a business property (I guess) when I changed provider to Ecotricity when I moved in I had difficulty because of this and had assumed it was fixed as it was eventually set up and transfered. My payments recently (unsure of historic without checking) has been £128. I recently tried to switch providers using Uswitch because I felt the price was too high. I've been knocked back because it's still listed as a non-domestic business property... I'm going to call and see what's going on, see what my rate should be and request a back payment of the over paid payments and perhaps 8% statutory as I've been without that money and stretch to a D&I payment as this should have been resolved back in September 2015.
I just wanted to check that I'm going along the right avenue and if there is anything I should be aware of going in or if it's a lost cause?
Thanks!

You should be able to get it corrected to Domestic
Best of luck in getting in backdated.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
UPDATE: I've found an email from Ecotricity explaining that there was an objection on the transfer however it has "now been resolved" dated Oct 2015.0

Thats good. It can be a long drawn out process switching from business to domestic supply. Now you are on a domestic tariff, think about switching from the high priced Ecotricity rates to someone more competitive, eg Robin Hood Energy who I recently switched to do my electric at 10.5 p/kwh and 19p a day standing charge. Compare that to the green energy tariff of EcotricityThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
