PPI from 27years ago

My hubby bought a camcorder approx. 27years ago. At the time he would have been 17. He eventually defaulted on payments and in the end ended up with a CCJ. He would have definitely been given PPI. I'm not sure if he should have even been given the loan as he was only 17?? Trouble is he doesn't remember who the loan was with and obviously has no paperwork. Can anyone give me some advise if it's possible to pursue a claim?

  • Nothing without knowing who sold it to him.

Even if you did, the chances of anyone having paperwork are zero.

He defaulted. So, even if he complained to the right place and they found he had PPI and they then decided it was mis-sold, they could use the redress against the debt he failed to repay.

You can't say this with any certainty.

Regardless, even if you still had full documentary evidence of the finance, the Lender could and would offset any redress against monies not paid as a result of the default. This would likely leave him with nothing.

Being 17 at the time is irrelevant, therefore.

Time to move on from this...
  • Hey Ho, was worth a try.
