    Afternoon all
TA I am so sorry that the results for Mr TA were a bit negative. Even though I don't know, you my heart goes out to you as not all DH's results have been positive either. I hope I am not overstepping the mark but I came across this article this week in our local paper.

"SPECIALIST radiotherapy for difficult-to-treat cancers will be available from early next year at a multi-million pound centre that is nearing completion in Newport.
The centre,... will become the first in the UK to offer proton beam therapy for anything other than eye cancer.
And by the time its high energy proton beam therapy service begins, other radiotherapy, chemotherapy and imaging services will have been established there.
Proton beam therapy can be used to treat difficult-to-reach cancers, including in the head, neck and spine by targeting very specific areas.
The centre is the first of three being developed in England and Wales ...the others will be in Northumberland and Berkshire"

This was the first I had heard it mentioned in this country and they are going to take private and NHS referrals.

Judi I have no problem with you putting your feelings on here, or anyone else, if it helps. As the saying goes "a problem shared is a problem halved"

The weather today is lovely, wall to wall sunshine but rain is forecast for tomorrow so we have been out in the garden cutting down some over hanging trees ( a lot more to go ) and sweeping up the fallen leaves. Although we got off lightly with storm Doris compared to others, we lost a lot of catkins from our Hazel trees so the squirrels will not be best pleased later in the year when there are less hazel nuts than usual.
    Anyway enough wittering from me.
Good wishes to all and enjoy the rest of Friday
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

To get over the shock of the car bill I've taken to drink! For only the second time this month I've poured a glass of wine. And damn fine it is too.

I bought it for a vegan friend today and then realised I have six bottles of the same stuff under the potting table in the small barn. Result!

Speky - hope you find a good place to watch 'Gers play tonight! Should be a good match.

Dumpling well done on your dentist visit ,he sounds like a very sensitive chap and I'm sure you will be pleased once it's done . I have a great chap who does my gnashers, he put me at ease over 15 years ago when I changed dentists, as when I went in I said 'Nothing personal but I'm not keen on dentists':)

He is a huge 6 foot plus West African chap with a lovely smile, and he said 'Neither am I, its horrible isn't it :) but my name is Nathaniel and I will do my best to make you relax ':) he actually sings to you while he is poking around and touch wood I have only had a filling in the past five years once and that was because the old one finally fell out.Now its just a quick clean and polish every six months :)

Gers enjoy your tipple it will ease the pain of the bill :)

TA think positive honey They are doing the best for your OH that they can ,although I daresay you both are heartily sick of hospitals and appointments.

I enjoyed the History club this afternoon and our tutor made some gorgeous Bara Brith tea bread .

My friends OH came with a big pot of tile grout /adeshive for me to borrow to fix the two loose tiles in my bathroom ,so that will get done tomorrow morning. Tonight I am DDs as its DGS Jack's birthday and we are having pizza as I thought for dinner :)

DGS Ben is off to Dublin on Monday with his g/f for five days break as its their 'year long anniversary' :) Hope the weather brightens up for them.

Right time for a cuppa, have a good evening everyone whatever you are doing

dumpling: I don't normally post here but I just wanted to pop in to commiserate with you over the dentist phobia (you are not alone). Your chappy sounds like a lovely man and I'm sure he will do his best for you. I had 8 teeth taken out on my 60th birthday and was scared stiff but honestly, I didn't feel a thing. It was all over in seconds and I was left wondering why I had worried so much.

:grouphug: to all who need them. x

Evening all, thanks to redruby for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs or wants one.
I was up before 5 this morning after a very unsettled night as I want to make sure I go give younger son a hug before he headed to Prague. Had hoped elderly pooch might realise that was early but no he still wanted fed and some attention.
Delighted for elder son at passing his driving theory test, his younger brother couldn't wait to get his licence and passed shortly after his 18th, but elder son wasn't bothered until recently.
Had hoped to air my wheels today as it was bright enough early doors but the horrible wind and rain wasn't long in coming back so haven't strayed further than the bin.
Started what will be a long task of clearig one of my email In Boxes, at work I'm really good at keeping it in order no idea why I've let a personal one get so out of hand!
Really enjoyed fish pie last night was very MSE and used up mash and leek & parsley sauce to put it together. Not sure what to have tonight - will decide in a bit.
Hope everyone has a good evening x

NANNYW of course you are not overstepping the mark. We have something in common with our DH's and their cancer battle after all and, because of that, you will be aware just how we are feeling and vice versa! I first heard about Proton Beam therapy a couple of years back when that couple in Portsmouth, or was it Southampton, snatched their little boy from hospital and fled to Spain where they could pay for the treatment which was denied them here. I know not every sort of treatment treats every type of cancer but, for those it would help, it's good to hear it will soon be more readily available here for NHS patients. xx

Forgot to add my twopenn'orth for DUMPLING! No you are certainly not alone with your fear, as you'll gather from the many comments on here! I'm another who was terrified of dental visits and it wasn't until I was allocated a lovely, gentle lady dentist that I began to relax in the dentist's chair! This lovely dentist eventually left the practice and was replaced by the sweetest Oriental lady dentist who I soon learned to trust as well! You'll be fine I'm sure x

    Evening all,

TA....sorry that your news wasnt all good, but hopefully the better news will win through.

Csarina....please take care of yourself, good people are scarce!

Judi....you are so brave, I know where you are coming from.

Have had a black dog on my back for the last couple of weeks, even finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning, think I need to whip myself into shape soon, going to try small targets next week and hope that I can move on by degrees......anyway, enough about me, hugs to everyone who has real problems,
    love you all

    Marie
