Declaring claims on old house for new build

Hi
We're moving to a new build in the summer. We have a couple of buildings and contents claims on our current property.
Will we need to declare these claims when insuring the new build? Are they claims against the property or us? Just asking as we want to be legal! Also may claim for some storm damage that the lovely Doris did yesterday but it may be better to just pay out.
Thank you in advance!

What is the precise wording of the insurer's question? Is it "have you any claims or losses in the past N years" or "have you any claims or losses in the past N years at this address"?
Usually, it is a claim against you rather than the property, as the insurer is making an assessment for how risky you are, i.e., how likely you are to need to claim.0 -
Just a warning, 2 claims makes you a poor risk to insure, 3 claims will make you almost uninsurable without high excesses and a heavily loaded premium.
Consider the 5 year cost of claiming, before you submit that third claim.0 -
We've not sourced insurance yet so not sure. Will look into it....0
