Threatening ex-tenant

HThey are your Son's Agent. Your Son is entitled to access to everything they hold with respect to the tenancy. He should instruct them to forward their entire file if they are no longer acting on his behalf.
Why are you responding anyway. It is surely a problem for your Son to deal with.
Because I'm his interfering mother! Lol
All joking aside everyone he deals with treats him like an idiot because he's only 23.0 -
So agent no longer acts for you. Therefore ignore tenant but obtain the file.
Has tenant given you a forwarding address? Or given agent a forwarding address? If not, you can't respond.
Go straight to dispute scheme with your proposed deductions (get that repair bill verified first though) ad a request for deposit to be released to you.
Roof? as previously advised: ignore.
Smart Wales? as previously advised: ignore.
The agent has a forwarding address but won't give it due to data protection. I have been given his email address to respond so I can contact him that way but don't want him having my email address. Am I within my rights to do this?
You're right about the cost, they've slipped up in an email today and said they're trying to get a quote from espares. I'd already tried them with no joy.0 -
Perhaps if you direct him onto here then he can learn for himself and earn respect for himself.H

If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

There are many free web based email address websites. It's so easy to create a new email account and use that for this one issue. That way your own personal email isn't compromised.I have been given his email address to respond so I can contact him that way but don't want him having my email address..0 -

It's easy to make a new email address.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

Seriously, your Son needs to man up and deal with this. He will allways be treated like a idiot if he lets his Mum deal with his problems!
The Agent can rightly refuse to give you things or ignore you completely. You are not party to their contract. However, they are employed by your Son and they cannot legitimately refuse him the details. If they do refuse then you Son must complain via the Agent's procedure and thereafter to the Ombudsman scheme if necessary.
If it goes to Court your Son will need to defend himself. You really do need to step back from this!0 -

No he doesn't he will need to be there but he is allowed a representative.
People are being very harsh on the OP any mother would help their child. It is also true that a young man in this situation might not be taken so seriously as an older adult, especially as the tenants are likely to be older than the LL.
I see nothing wrong on them working on this together, posters are right in that you will need to get your son to deal with the agents as he was their client.0 -

Really? Thank goodness you're not my parent. It's called being supportive! You should try it sometime, it's quite rewarding.
The information has been requested on behalf of my son and he is consulted at each stage. I wasn't asking for parenting advice thanks :rotfl:0 -

You're right. The tenants are a professional couple aged 50+ with 2 sons at home the same age as my son. This may be where the lack of respect comes from. It's only since they've started the threatening tactics that I have intervened.
He does deal with the agents if needed but I have more time so he has authorised me and his father from day one to make decisions where needed as his intention was to go travelling.0
