Mortgage for purchase in another city

Hi there,
I'm thinking of moving from London to Scotland some time in the next few years. The move would mean quitting my job and finding work up there. Ideally, I'd like to buy my first house there too.
As far as I'm aware, banks tend to be reluctant to grant mortgage applications to people who have recently moved jobs (additionally, it's likely that my salary will go down after the move). I'm wondering if there's any way I can start the process of house hunting while I'm still based in London, or would I have to move, rent for a while, and then buy?
My partner currently lives in Scotland, so the property would not be unoccupied while I'm still living in London. But if I were to buy a place, would I need to disclose on a mortgage application that I'm intending to quit my job and move there full-time myself?
Thanks for your advice.

If your job is in London and the property somewhere in Scotland. Then yes, questions would be asked. First you need to find a job. May determine where you eventually live as well.0

Where you have accepted a job offer for a permanent role a lender will usually be happy to just request an income reference from your new employer- no issues. You'd really need to get the job situation sorted first of allI am a Mortgage Adviser
