Going Away for New Year in the Sun? or somewhere else???

Hello just looking for some advice.... as i love reading this forum I thought i would try it out for myself!

As i have to take a weeks compulsory leave at xmas time Im considering going away for new year but needs to be on 26th DEC to the 2nd Jan as my partner is a teacher and needs to be back for school on the 3rd Jan.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend where the hottest place will be this time of year? and would also appreciate any links for a cheap holiday, cant be too expensive just want a cheap and cheerful get away as this is a 2nd holiday!

or if not a sun holiday can anyone recommend anything else to do, last year i went to london and watched the fireworks that was pretty cool

Any replies much appreciated

Andrew

Cheap and warmish is the costa del sol, anything warmer is much more expensive.

  • hello thanks for the reply, I will take a look, can you recommend any holiday search engines to look it up? I know the obvious ones like teletext but wondered if there are any other gems out there? thanks alot

We are going to the Malaga area next New Year- we will have a teacher in our party, alongside the rest of us who usually start back on the third, however in 2008/2009 it falls on a Saturday so earliest start back date is 5th JAnuary:j

Most flights seem to be already booked up for this New Year, we have been trying to find flights to see how much they would cost, but all seem to be extortionate, so we think we will have to book as soon as they become available for next year to get the best deal.

Costa Del Sol will not be very warm, but as the other poster said, everywhere else is very expensive.

We are hoping to get some good levels of daylight (we suffer from S.A.D.) so aren't too worried about how warm it is- quite a few places are warmer than home at that time of year.
